Whats the best way to address this? I have been playing with spring position, but even with a gravity force, it only effects position. So say I flip the head upside down, the pony tail will act like a spring and slightly compress versus fall over.
The few tutorials I have found have only been video with one guy even burping in the middle of it. (*shudder*, and people wonder why I like written tutorials?!) There is the physics route, but wont it have to rebake everytime I change the master animations? Its also one of the newer versions of max not using reactor anymore.

I'm trying to get this effect. A woman with her head upside down, the ponytail would fall with position and rotation in the other direction.
I added the gravity modifier to a spline IK with the spring position on every node. When I animated it upside down it kinda collapsed in on itself like a compressed spring versus falling over.
