originally i wanted to get a desktop, but due to some recent events ill have to be able to travel easily.
so for my needs, this laptop should be able to handle large projects. should handle Photoshop, other adobe stuff, Zbrush, marmoset, Quixel, Substance, Maya, UE4/Unity, etc. i probably wont do a whole lot of offline rendering i think. Should also be as future proof as possible.
weight isnt a huge issue since ill be using it as a desktop 90% of the time and probably use one of those mini travel suitcases if i want to take it somewhere else.
i dont know exactly what specs relate to what aspect of the 3d softwares i use. Only found articles related to gaming, which isn't my highest priority. i was told that a good gaming pc would work for my needs, i7 processor, gtx 980 card, so i narrowed my search down to 2 laptops, the ASUS g751jy, and MSI GT72. In the context of gaming, ive read that it's about 50/50 on which one is better. except that the msi one may be easier to do upgrades, maybe. and MSI gpu gtx980 has 8gb instead of asus' 4GB, but dont know if that makes a difference or not. but in the context of 3d design, i really dont know.. and theres things to consider, like overheat, build quality, longevity, etc.
or if anyone has a suggestion for a better laptop, please suggest one.

Comething around this specs should work nicely.
And I'd avoid MSI, having had a previous gen GT70, not impressed.
im not very hardware savy, so i might fk up my first attempt at a custom pc, and i imagine it's even harder with building a custom laptop.
there any particular reason msi sucked for you? was about to pull the trigger on msi.
