I've done a simple work, inspired by Andrew Hamilton's Alborz Mountains map style in Battlefield 3. I also sent him an email and I hope he'll open the mail at some point. Anyway,...
This is my first terrain work in UE4. I was previously a CE user in which I couldn't do these due to the engine limits. That said, I'm new to this and am willing to hear any kind of feedback to help me go bigger on this. And I also have a few problems with the workflow which I'll talk about it later in this thread.
The mountains look really cool, but I think the areas where it meets with the grass could be better. I don't know if this is possible in UE4, but I assume you could use some kind of map to control how the two materials blend, so it looks more natural.
Your trees are cards, if you intend on leaving them that way, make them "unlit" meaning no lighting information. Then adjust you texture to match your lighting. (exposure)
whoaaa, that is awesome, i'm just now getting into unreal and can't wait to make some beautiful stuff like this. i agree with the snow transition being a little unrealistic though. also idk if it matters but the trees could use a few more planes, they look like they're made out of just 4 sides. not sure if that's a setting that can be changed easily in unreal or if you made those trees yourself. looks amazing though.
Tree is just so simple I agree, with no special material setup. Just felt like putting a tree there.
Hopefully Andrew Hamilton replied back to my email with a really great feedback. Now I know much more about it, I know what things I'd have to rework and how. I'd change a lot of things in my workflow and come up with something really better.
Hey, great scenery you did a nice job with the mountains.
The only issue u should fix i guess is the grass , grass dies when it is snowing, the color should be more like brown, dead grass not so green it just doenst look that natural
But generally really good! thumbs up and keep it up
