Sports Car - WIP

Hey everyone, here's a scene I'm gradually building in Maya and Photoshop. Any critiques would be super appreciated! :)

Is this only for beauty purposes?
  • JohnDraisey
Yeah, I just want to make the shot as pretty as possible. It's been a back and forth process of changing colors/lighting in Photoshop, and then going back to Maya to make those changes final.

Feels like we should see the entire car. The framing is off. The material on the rims looks a bit strange. Is it supposed to be wet?
Otherwise, the model is looking really nice. Keep going!

Alright cool, I'll frame the entire car then. Yeah, I don't know what happened with the rims, haha. I'll see if I can fix that material. May have accidentally applied some other material to that object.

Looking much better! I think the tires could use more life. Maybe some wetness?

Also feels like the angle is maybe a little too low. That front wheel and headlight are the main focus and you can't really appreciate the rest of the car. Maybe a lens adjustment would help.

True, I should experiment with a different angle and lens, and I agree that more of the car should be visible. I'll rotate it more to the side so people can see the curves of the car. Next step is building the interior and like you said, adding more life to the tires with wetness. I think the rims could be a little cooler too. I saw some sick rims on an Aventador, and want to copy those.

I'm using bump maps right now for the asphalt and tires, but I'll start playing around with Displacement maps to see how much that improves the realism. Maybe even some tiny pieces of gravel on the ground and small pools of water to break up the monotony. What do you think?
