how do i smoothen the normal map though? can i do it in zbrush or xnormal?
No, you'll need to use a traditional 3d modelling program. Blender is free and can do this for you. You can't fix that normal map, the model you're baking to needs to be fixed for the normal map to function. This applies to both when baking and when viewing said model.

that's a comment i did not expect to hear, so it is my model that has the problem and not the normal map itself, i think you are right. i will go and try download Maya or Blender now. thanks man!
