I'm planning to take this concept into 3D. If anyone has design notes or advice about rigging problems that may arise from a character with this posture, please let me know.
(3D blockout coming soon, just 2D concept for now)
Where is it's face? Right now, I'm being drawn to focusing on the mushrooms.
I've gotten that feedback from other students too. The idea is that the mushroom has taken control of his body, so I figured deemphasizing the face was appropriate. Maybe I should push its values even darker to make that read, unless you think having a clear read on his face is still important?
I've finished the blockout and I rigged the top half just to pose it. I wasn't able to get the pose nearly as exaggerated in the model as I was in the concept. Breaking bones is a lot less scary in 2D than 3D. I'll push it around more in Zbrush to get a good silhouette, since I'll be retopologizing anyway. Crits / advice still welcome.
