Looks fun. I enjoyed the original Metal Gear Online included in MGS4, so I'll probably enjoy this as well.
It has the same problem the original had with me though; they seem to have used a different character designer from the main game, so all the appearances you can choose from in Online look kinda... boring, to put it mildly.
shame that good old MGO in mgs IV overshadowed by complicated account creation.
otherwise that was really fun game . I believe they will deliver the promise,
just one thing, I hope they dont repeat same mistake . ( on account creation )
Looks really neat. I completely missed out on the original Metal Gear Online, so I'd love to try out this one. The demo is obviously script to hell and back, but I really like they ideas. Love multiplayer games that try something a bit different.
I can cherry pick examples too! - except I'll avoid closeups of dirt and ruined buildings.
But Wikipedia has a pretty nice article covering the very wide variety of terrain you can find in Afghanistan, which whilst generally arid, doesn't have to be a monotone shade of brown - particularly if you get to do the art for it! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geography_of_Afghanistan
The gimmick wears off pretty fast for me. That isn't the meat of the experience they are promising here. But I'm sure I'll warm up to it.
I tend to disagree. The silly humor is ingrained into the series and was there from the very start. Dropping naughty magazines, walking around in carton boxes and looking for rubber frogs is as much a part of MGS to me as sneaking around or knocking on walls. I love these bits and I'm happy that they are not trying to make things too serious.
I guess. I've played MGS since playstation one, and I have a hard time reconciling a game that prominently features gratuitous violence including the live chest surgery of a little girl and the extensive torture of a half naked woman, with silly and bizarre humor. With a serious tone like that, it's jarring how often I'm being constantly reminded that I'm playing an eccentric japanese video game, and get thrown out of the immersion. To me, it seems more like a game that just can't figure out what it's supposed to be. Not every director can do action-comedy, and neither can Kojima.
Can't say it hasn't gotten a chuckle out of me now and again, though.
Anyway, I hope they will offer coop missions and not just competitive matches.
I was under the impression that the trailer was showing a coop mission?
I'm pretty sure it was supposed to show competitive PvP gameplay, it was just so heavily scripted to the point where it looks like a bunch of human players going up against some NPCs.

I always thought reminding you that its a game was the point, the game series has broken the 4th wall more than enough for that reason. They game is usually careful to keep the two extremes separate though. Humor stuff is not violent, violent stuff is not humorous (except what the player does).
In MGO though, the silly stuff was always my favorite imo, I really hope they bring "charm" and saluting back XD

Parts of it look great. It is however very brown?
Now if only Kojima would give a release date...

This looks great btw very interested to see how metal gear fairs online.
There will be a Kojima Station on the 25th of this month. Maybe he'll stop trolling around and give us a darn date.
Count me in too !
With the new gameplay mechanics, i think MGO will be even better. Gunning in Ground Zeroes is awesome.

don't really want deathmatch/objective captures, want Peacewalker
You mean like coop?
MGO is competitive.
BUT! the single player campaign has a multiplayer aspect going on with Mother Base. That is not related to MGO.
Dunno if that clarifies that.
good observation
i think they made the same one

It's great we can finally share what we're working on! ^__^
Those are the best parts of any MGS game!
