SOLVED: (?) 1.8 Pattern Materials Masks

When creating the pattern materials they only create black and white coloured materials with no masking. How would I apply the material into a mask?

Hi!

The black and white patterns are only for use in the dynamask editor, as you say they have no materials themselves. So they are for masking between the other materials.
