I have been learning the particle tool that valve use for DOTA 2 particles.
I'm stuck trying to achieve an hourglass shape in my particle:

Technically I know what I want to do, but I'm not sure how to achieve it in this tool.
What I want to do is modify the size of the particle the further away it gets from the two control points. Like so:
[CP0] -8-7-6-5-4-3-3-4-5-6-7-8- [CP1]
I have had some sort of luck with it using two "Ramp Scalar Linear Simple" Operators:

One was set so start at 0, end at 0.5 with a ramp rate of -50 whilst the other was set to start at 0.5, end at 1, with a ramp rate of 50.
It's not ideal though. It feels hacky and I could never scale the entire thing up again!
Hopefully someone is out there who knows a lot more about this than me!
