So I want to try to make a really low-poly spaceship in the style of the old x-wing/TIE-fighter games. Got any tips? I've never really made a texture like that before, so I have no clue what I'm doing. Here's an example of what I'd like to achieve (the top one):

    Always start with baby steps!

Focus on major local colors first, everything that's before the dirt and damage.

Put these all into group folders based on map type (DIFFUSE, SPEC, GLOSS, METALNESS, ETC) and sub-folders for elements (ALUMINUM METAL, PAINTJOB, DECALS, etc.)

    1) Solid Fill Color layer (Photoshop), use a bone-white base. Mask it off to the areas where it's supposed to be.
    2) Solid Fill Color of Red for Red Markings. Mask it off, paint on mask where the red shows up.

Continue as necessary for other LOCAL colors.
