Portfolio WIP(Characters)

Hello everyone! I'll be posting progress towards my Character demo reel/portfolio. I will try to incorporate some environment art to support the characters if I have enough time. I'm also planning to create idle cycles for the character presentation. I will add this last of course haha. I will be doing 3 Characters, with a slight chance of a fourth. Well to start this off here are block outs to 3 of my characters.

Here is some progress on the prisoner. That will be first character I will complete. So far I did some of the sculpting. I'm beginning to model the hard surface now. All of this is for the high res still.

The wires connecting from his head to his back should be bundled up in some way. Maybe onto the neck piece? I assume he would get really annoyed by those wires if they kept touching his neck every time he looked left.

Also, soften the bicep where it connects to the elbow joint.

What's the character's function/job?

Thanks I actually didn't see that been working on it too long haha. Yeah I was thinking of twisting the wires or changing something with them, I'll take that into consideration. It won't be used in anything except as a portfolio piece. The character is a prisoner. Thanks!

I really like his face. But I'm annoyed by those big tubes passing UNDER his jumpsuit. Kinda weird huh

Yeah I agree, I'll work on fixing that area, and figuring something new out for that.

All right guys, I began working on the hard surface areas. I still haven't managed to fix any of the sculpt. After I finish up the hardsurface I'll go back and fix the strap, arm and touch up the sculpt in general.

the cloth seems very regular in fold width and frequency. Try and break it up a little to give it some more visual interest. Also, it looks very soft and muddy at this point. Find some good reference for the type of material you are going for and nail it Good start!

Ok New update, began working on the cloth and skin a bit more. Also finished some more hardsurface. The rest of the hardsurface details will be created with ndo when I begin working with the game res version of thi. Thanks for the feedback so far!

I think the distal end of the bicep looks like it has too much volume. Looking like it's coming together though!

All right so I fixed some issues within the sculpt. I created a game res version and began texturing. Textures are still very early within it's process. Hair still needs a ton of work, I will be making the hair thinner around the top of his head to give him a thin comb over.

Ok another New Update. Worked on textures for the most part. This is currently in Marmoset I will be moving it over to ue4 because I have the character rigged and I want to experiment with something in there.

Dang, man, Super awesome progress. Would definitel love to look at some of your texture flats. Are you sculpting the clothing in Marvelous Designer as well?

Thanks man! I sculpted the clothing for the prisoner and the explorer, but I did use marvelous designer for the cyberpunk characters jacket. I will upload the texture sheets soon once I polish everything, so sometime after gdc those will be up! Thanks
