Retopology question, fusing two ojects together

Hey guys, have a little problem with retopo right now and need advice from anyone :)

Basically trying to fuse two objects together for lowpoly, but cage present a problem when I bake it.

What to do to avoid errors in my bake?

    So this looks a bit better, not perfect, but I hope you can see what I'm going for.

    When you're fusing something like that you don't want the edges to line up perfectly, you want faces to be sort of between the separations rather than a cut exactly where that separation happens...if that makes sense.

    Does anyone know if what I'm trying to do isn't a waste of time? I find that If I want to fuse objects together my highpoly needs to be adjusted and be perfect for this kind of lowpoly. Maybe saved texture space isn't worth the trouble...

    Personally I will have separate pieces on my high poly be separated on my low poly as well, I like to split objects up based on their construction and their differing materials. I think it really is all a matter of what you are trying to accomplish and what is a more comfortable and speedy approach for you.

    More speedy and comfortable would definitely be just retopo each peace separately :) Thanks for sharing your experience :thumbup:
