Let's do this :P
- We will decide on what will we be working on for this upcoming month.
- Anyone can participate in the voting process, even if he or she doesn't participate in the Monthly Challenge itself
- You can vote on multiple pieces. Simply post or quote them in your reply/replies.
- PLEASE DO NOT post a concept art of multiple characters. Different people will work on different characters and that would beat the purpose of this.
- You may post interesting concept without actually voting for them. Simply state so when you do.
- If you want to discuss about the pieces, don't quote the images.
- The goal is to get better and to make stuff. So, pick challenging and fun piece (?)
- You will decide character budget on your own term. So don't base concept piece on low budget. Determine budget on the concept instead.
- If you already contact the creation of certain concept art, please state so as well (thus we don't all contact the poor guy with the same question). Usually I take it upon myself to contact the artists for permission.
- Voting ends on the 29th, 2pm US time West Coast.
- The actual challenge itself starts on 1st day of next month, in its own thread which I will be creating then.
- Note that I MIGHT pick two or maybe three concepts for next month. But if I do, I will not pick more than one of the same kind. (No 2 hard-surface pieces or 2 dude-in-armor pieces)
Here are two concepts to get you started. Let's post some more kick-ass concepts to choose from.
Popular from previous months, the Fire Plain Girl
Mechanic

I'll throw this into the ring. Ponyta and Ponytail interpretation from "pT" Bold shapes, style challenge for 3D artists.
Cause materials for the win.

I like the lady, but I'm also in agreement with Jadepanda, some creatures would be cool.
It's design is not the best in the world. Assuming some of ya'lls is going to use the work done here in your portfolios, as a character she's all over the place.
She's got a dress. (Fashion, Dancing, night out, classy, drinks, wine)
She has two swords (Warrior, swordsman, agile, speed, little defense)
She has this HUGE collar shoulder thing. (Space, Sci-Fi, life support, jet pack, EVA)
There's a LOT of conflicting implied themes going on. Individual elements of her charcter, awesome. All together? It's a big "What? Why?"
It'll be a technical challenge to get her made, no doubt about that, but if you have an opportunity to choose a well designed character, now is the time to say no to this one and at least choose something else.
Not voting for my favorite concept, the Mechanic, either because he's a concept I've loved for a very long time and if it ever got chosen I'd like to join in! Not sure I have time right now, so I'll throw in a vote for this:
It's simple, clean, to the point and means people can get down to focusing on creating something less "crazy" impressive and more subtle. Getting stuff that's well made and thoughtful instead of just focusing on creating lots of things that are cool.
Personal thoughts aside, second vote goes to this
Graduating this month, so might have a teeny bit of free time either side of hardcore portfolio crunch to join in. I hope so, it'd be nice to do something quick and fun to get back into the groove!
Destiny Sci-fi dude.
Another interesting concept by the same artist.
Pretty much, yeah. Extra point if you can find it from the original creator. Since it's a good practice to let the concept artist know of what we're doing when we use their creation.
YES! Creatures !
Fire Plain, Male Mechanic and Robotic Female each with 3.
To quote my self, i will vote for this one :]

My vote
I'm getting artists' permission to use em.
See everyone tomorrow when I make the thread for December.
Cheers.
We already have one for Environments/props.
As far as I'm concerned, the Noob Character challenge is a place for people to practice their organics and appealing humanoid forms, which implies both androids/cyborgs and creatures can be allowed. Besides, we've had robots AND creatures in here a few times now, I think. If it were a month with only horses, maybe there might be a solid point in your statement, but we have a choice of a creature and a character and that's just fine by me. There's no Monthly Creature challenge, after all.
So get out of the comfort zone, embrace new challenges.
