Inspired by this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYPxJtra1ws ,and also by a feedback from a company I recently applied that said "my skills aren't good enough to make realistic space fighters" I took on this project to prove to myself what I'm actually able to do.
General objective of the project are:
- Being as realistic in form and function as possible. But still cool to look at and has familiar feel.
-Every part and behavior has to be explained in such a way that it would make sense in "Realistic Environment and Space Combat" scenario. So inertia, heat management, emergency atmospheric flight and entry, realistic weapons solutions.
- Has to fit in a certain silhouette which is a shape of a docking bay on a larger mother ship.
- Try different approach to the "Fighters in Space" solution. Namely, something that I think makes a bit more sense without loosing the realism of space flight... Helicopters in Space.
-It's a highly maneuverable weapons platform, equivalent in role to helicopter gunships like Apache or Havoc.
Here is current WIP, most of the ship is at the 2nd detailing pass while engines are in final 3rd detailing pass. I would love some input and comments before I go too far to make some bigger changes. They are also in some of my favorites concept color schemes.
The evolution of the project can be found on my blog : michalkozlowski3d.blogspot.com
Thank You.
