Quite often I get weird and interesting ideas for games, I am sure many of you do too. So this thread is dedicated to all those ideas and concepts :)

Ill start if off with an idea I was thinking about earlier.

WWW2 seems to be a genre that people are interested in, I always see comments about people wanting a new Battlefield WW2 game.

My idea for a game would be to basically have a kind of conquest type mode, where there is a central island, surrounded by a large area of water. It would be like the D-Day events of ww2. One team would start in the water, move in on boats and try to capture the island from the defending team.

The defending team would have certain places around the map which they could defend from, armed bunkers, spot light towers, machine gun nests etc. Along with small wooden walls, sandbags etc that could be placed during the preparation stage of the match.

The preparation stage would be a planning/fortification period. It would last around 5-10 minutes. Both teams would have a general, who decides on what forces and equipment should be used. The attacking teams general would have the job of selecting which forces to attack with, for example he/she could decide to attack with a small amount of ground forces, but with a couple of ships and missiles. Whilst another general could decide to attack with a large amount of ground forces but very limited help from vehicles. The general could also select which weapons and ammunition would be used, different equipment would cost different amounts, so they would have to think tactically about which equipment would be best.

The defending general also has a similar job, but can also purchase/choose small place able barricades and props which can be placed by the enemy forces before the match begins. These would be things like those metal 'x's, mines, wooden barricades etc.

Once the match begins the attackers would simply have to attempt to attack and control certain points of the island. There would be a ticket system which would allow for re spawns. There would also be a resource count, a team would lose if all their ground forces or their resources and depleted. The defenders could lose by being killed or having all their 'control' points being captured and defended by the attackers.

What are your ideas? :D

Stealth games always seems to be a bit boring, stealth isn't very easy with only crouch, prone and basic movement.

Youngy, this is an aside, but to refine your game idea, I recommend shrinking it down to one or two sentences. I tried reading it, but got bored after line 3.

I'm thinking in terms of pitching a game. As with many game ideas, they're easy to come up with, which makes their value across the board minimal. When you're pitching a game to someone, you've got only seconds to catch their attention. Something that's a paragraph or two for a game idea is too long.

While it is good you're thinking about game ideas as a game artist, I think it's also important to understand the problem with game ideas as being valuable. That being said, this might be a good opportunity to figure out how to truncate your pitch to something compact and catchy.

And stealth games aren't boring. Then again, I don't know what stealth games you're referring too unless you're giving a blanket statement.

I just posted my idea for fun, I wasn't trying to sell a pitch or anything. I just get ideas and want to share them.

I generally just find stealth games boring because controls are not at the point where you can properly move around cover and hide. IRL you could curl up near some rocks and hide, but in a game you can't really do much more than crouch and prone. Many people obviously like stealth games, I just find them a bit tedious.

You've pretty much described the Wake Island, Midway and the other naval maps from Battlefield 1942.

I recommend Dishonored and Splinter Cell Blacklist if you are interested in seeing refined movement mechanics for stealth gameplay that gives you a lot of room to play with. And gives you the option to move fast if you want.
