So I'm still pretty new to Substance Designer, but I am getting the hang of it. I am using it on my stylized pirate character. Right now trying to make a believable fabric/cloth texture is killing me. I'm using one of the default fabric substances to try and blend the material onto my base textures, but I can not get the scale small enough for the texture to be believable. I know I am probably going to have to make my own substance for this to look right but I'm not sure where to start. Ive looked at allegorithmic's youtube page and it is full of great tutorials, but most cover hard surface or edge-wear. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
You might simply not have enough texture resolution to get all the fine fabric details. If that's the case, you'd need either to increase the resolution or to overlay a pattern via a custom shader. Take a look at the character section at this article:
