Hey guys,
I recently finished touching up a model that I wanted to use as a test run for Marmoset Toolbag 2. I haven't done any real hard-surface modelling for almost a year so I wanted to brush up my skills. So far I'm pretty impressed with Marmoset Toolbag 2, it definitely helps define hard surface materials REALLY well. Tools used were 3ds Max, Photoshop & ndo2. Let me know what you guys think, crits and comments are always welcome!
Cheers!

So you have more colour variation as well as material variation. So the small adjustable base has brushed, bare metal on top of it, cover on top is reddish/orange etc.
These are just nitpicks, it looks great!
Nice job, lukepham101. There's something very satisfying about machined metal props in 3D.
@ JoltZero Thanks man for pointing out the aliasing, it was bugging me too! I tried putting anti-aliasing in Marmoset Toolbag 2 with 4x temporal and it still gives me those jagged lines so maybe I was doing something wrong. I just used to Photoshop trickery to make the lines go away, not the most elegant solution but I couldn't find any more anti-aliasing options in Marmoset at least.
@ martinszeme Thanks Martin! Those are some great suggestions, I did what you suggested and put some coloured different elements of the model to make it less monochromatic.
@ HitmonInfinity Haha, if my work can satisfy at least one person then that makes me happy
Cheers to everyone again, feel free to give critiques and comments, they're always appreciated!
It looks like cake? It's extremely glossy? I don't know. Fantastic over all though
Not the same model but it's similar
The red paint might be a little over saturated? Regardless, I think the model is looking pretty sharp. Nice work!
@Thrivius - Hopefully stylized isn't a bad thing! I never really thought about whether my hard surface modelling was stylized, I just try my best to imitate real world shapes.
@Sebeuroc - Thanks! Hopefully my work has improved over the years so I hope it can impress some people at least.
