[Riot Art Contest] - Scarlet Hammer Poppy

Hey guys! I'm going to be recreating the Scarlet Hammer Poppy skin, one of my personal favorites. I will mostly be using the original splash art and concept for reference, with some minor redesigns.

So far I've got the armor blocked out with a rough sculpt of the face/hair.

nice start! I would suggest you to go for 2 round eyes like in the concept art, I really like that detail

Nice start! Good solid shapes and its a nice face.

I think the eyes are fine. I think what Danert is seeing is the iris just glowing very brightly. You can see from the ortho side drawing that it is a regular eye that has a very hot iris.

I should start my hard surface in a moddeling program more often.
it would probably save me alot of time.

@Dantert and @Arkadius: Yeah I think the glowing iris thing is one of the cooler features of the skin and I'll probably tackle that part when I start the texture.

@beastypet: I was kinda going back and forth about if I wanted to do this mostly in hard surface too haha. I think the speed of whatever method would probably be more about what you're used to or comfortable with.


Just wanted to post a small update. I started sculpting the armor and these are the pieces I've managed to finish so far. I'll probably want to finish sculpting the hair soon and then continue on with the rest of the armor.

Doing another update now that I have the sculpt mostly complete. I'm still not 100% happy with the hair. I'll probably do another pass while I still have the time. Although I really want to get to painting soon.

Finally started on the texturing. It's still early but there's also not much time left to post updates . Looking at it now I'll probably go back and de-saturate the yellow trim a bit. There's still a lot to paint and polish, hopefully I'll finish in time.

This is a very nice update for poppy. I know you probably didn't model the low poly this way but it would be sweet to be able to see her lower he face guard when she means business. =P
