Don't see any mention of this on here.. I know there's some Die Antwoord fans on PC, and certainly some Neill Blomkamp fans.. Oh and Hugh Jackman?
Seems like a bizarre mix but it looks awesome!

I heard Ninja from Die Antwoord was a nightmare to work with and everyone on the set hated him. That's not surprising, I guess.
The whole thing with Ninja from Die Antwoord being a terror on set made me reconsider if I'm still a fan of them; so their whole act is not a big joke or parody, they're actually like that all the time?
I get the impression that it is still an act in some way, just more of an Andy Kaufman -doesn't stop when the cameras are off- act..
On a related note, for those who have not seen it :

Also, what happened to that movie called Prototype ? It looked really promising, riding on a similar vibe while still being its own thing :

As for Ninja, I'm fairly certain it's an act. Wasn't too long ago when he was in Max Normal as just Waddy Jones, well spoken in interviews, bearded and always wearing a suit. He's known for adapting different personas for his acts. They also have an album release coming up, so the publicity doesn't hurt
Yup, definitely an act, I posted this on my facebook yesterday.

Edit: Chappie reminds me of Johhny 5, but less comedic.
On a serious note, can we have a discussion about the aesthetic that this is continuing?
I'm hoping against hope that the Neil movies, games like "Titanfall," and other mass produced art doesn't over use this beautiful, very specific art direction of grunge, bushy-(South?) African future aesthetic. Where machines are worn and torn, and it's this awesome mix of shantytown, urban African city, etc.
I have to be honest, for the longest time, it looked generic because for me, I was seeing this originally being done by concept artists where they're making military robots, etc through this specific aesthetic both before and after "District 9."
I want to see where this gets pushed to, maybe it becomes a new popular vision of the near future in terms of visual development.
Is that robot the best they can do when they imagine an AI? That it will behave exactly like a human, except grow up faster? That it'll want to listen to loud music and drive fast cars and act gangsta? Come on!
..seems more like a modern retelling of Short Circuit..
I think its more of a modern telling of Pinocchio than I Robot. Either way I am a big fan of the movies and worlds Blomkamp makes and am looking forward to this.
This is the nicest thing ever.
It kind of looks bad... but as always the visuals have me interested enough to give it a chance :P
