3ds max obensubdiv problem

hey guys,
I'm just playing around with the obensubdiv moddifier and it seems that it isn't working like it should, even with iterations set to 4 or 5 i become this really bad looking shading or what ever this is... In the autodesk tutorial "youtube" the uses a iteration of 3 without this weird shading issue... any idea what the problem is?

Can you put a link the the video you are referencing?

This is actually a simple problem. I ran into this the other day and it is a smoothing issue. If you apply a Smooth modifier to the top of the stack and turn on Auto Smooth they clear right up.

This is really more so a workaround, but it should work.

Seems not to work for me... The edges are "creased" opensubdiv is applied aand gives me this weird shading.... but when putting the smooth moddifier on top the cube is simply straight all the smoothnes is gone...
