I'm having a seriously hard time trying to iterate on the skin weights for my ward, If I want to make changes I have to close DOTA and reopen it and then set up a new submission all over again to check out the new weights. Every time I just update the FBX it totally ignores any changes I've made and treats it like the very first FBX I brought in. Have you guys had any problems like this or have any tips for me?
Thanks in advance, it's a super painful process especially as I keep having to re-hookup ~15 animations every time.
The only difference I made this time was the order of which I applied my skins. Afterwards, it imported fine, weights are perfect, and the bow string is perfect. Thank you for all your help!
Hey guys, here's my submission. That was a lot harder to get onto the workshop with images than I expected so I'm glad that's done :P
- I pumped up the colour around the edges of the scales to try and get a little closer to the venomancer model.
- I also played with a pink mouth as opposed to red but I couldn't get it to work for him, i think because of the big dark heavy fangs at the front.
I shall try and add a gif to the workshop page soon once I've figured that out... thanks guys
@MathewO - I like it! really good shapes and colors. @Hy57 - Thank you! Yours is shaping up quite nicely. Can't wait to see it finished. @danpaz - Looks amazing! I'm shocked by how much the armaments still looks sculpted/high poly. great job!
well i wasn't able to finish it on time. ill have to start sooner next time, but i learned lot and saw great improvement in my self so i'm glad to have tried.
I'm really glad I took part, there's some really sick stuff and I felt so out of my comfort zone :P It was really cool to do something so different, I'll definitely be taking part again Thanks guys
Hmm, I assume by the next three on the list you mean Storm, Gyro and Ogre? I think I can work with that, and bonus points if a winter theme does get involved.

I am glad to hear that. finishing is good but it is also part of learning to know when it is good enough.
Good luck next month!
Sounds like a plan! I reckon a wintery set for Ogre McGee would be awesome. Even though I haven't finished my bow yet, I've still learnt heaps too. Definitely keen to have a crack at another piece.
Hey guys. (Particularly Tvidotto) Since the winner hasn't been announced yet I just wanted to make sure I'm not disqualified for making 2 items. Never got a response on whether you guys would be cool with the variation of the bow counting as a 2nd style and just being "one item". If not then just using 1 of the bows for judging is fine with me.

Monty, no you are not disqualified, I just picked the first one as the one competing
is that ok for you?
the votes are being done and I will announce the 2 months togheter
Now that I'm a little more awake I just wanted to thank you properly Tvidotto, without these contests a lot of people might have not have made their start on dota items. It creates a great place to get easy advice / feedback. It would have taken me much longer to figure out that submissions process without this thread.
Thanks for taking the time to do this every month for 2 years

Last day of the month and we need to decide next month's theme. (well, already december for the australians =] )
We can go for something crazy like Christmas theme, get the next 3 heroes on that list or anything else you guys suggest.
@danpaz3d, awesome cape, love the detail in it
Which heroes are next?
this one suggested by Balde of evil Bane http://i.imgur.com/bfoiod3.png
as Markovnikov mentioned, the next 3 are Gyro, Ogre and Storm
Anyone have anything against them?
If not we can define those 3, with possibility to winter theme but not mandatory.
I will rework the layout of the first page to make it cleaner and as soon as I get it working I will publish =]
