Yes it's possible I'm still tweaking it! I've started the inside, and I'm trying to think about the thickness of the pading but I think I can scale it up a bit! Thanks
It almost looks like two helmets; a smaller helmet, some sort of liquid (possibly some kind of thermal insulation?), and an exterior helmet. The exterior helmet almost looks like it's designed to hold fluids.
Ah interesting I don't see it as two helmets, maybe it's hard to see it for the moment, but I've done two layers of lenses, the zone in between will hold the liquid.
In the cheeks of the helmet I've done the kind of pump thing, with the tubing going from it to the underside of the lenses area.
In my mind, you put the helmet, then the mask, and when everything is plug-in, the liquid run through the system.
Thanks Pablorom12! I appreciate!Retro sci-fi is the best sci-fi for me I can appreciate good looking shapes and design in more recent sci-fi, but it's not as tasty imo :P
This is looking very cool, are you doing everything in max ? sub-D ? Some modeling tips would be cool, EX how to cut throuh a round shape without pinch
Thankss1dK ! I'm using maya! Yep sub-d modeling, pretty basic stuff, I'm not reinventing the wheel at all
For the holes etc inside round surface, I just need to have enough loops on the model before booleans or cuts. And support edges wide enough.
Ex : A 4 sides cylinders into a curved surface will have a harder time smoothing nicely than a 10 sides cylinders that can follow the curved shapes closer.
That padding in the back is looking really good. I'm really enjoying that it opens in the front as well. Are you going to do some similar padding on the forehead part?
Huuum I don't know. I'll do the final renders with Marmoset toolbag 2 , but for the moment I have absolutely no idea on how to do it! If there is a solution I'll do it!
Awesome! I Love that retro look. I wish I had the imagination to build functional-looking inter-workings like this. Did you use ref to build that stuff inside the helmet or did you just start building what looked right?
No ref here, except for some little sketches I've made before starting.
I just tried to think logically. "I need a lock system for the mask. If there is liquid, I need a pump or something. Inside the lenses I can see informations like and HUD, maybe I need electric cable to power the system and the liquid pump.''
I tried to mimic the shapes I see everywhere else on the original artwork, but I'm not 100% happy with some details yet.
If I may say something about the image layout it self, I would say to add something like " from the concept of Juan Gimenez " and " By Jonathan llinares ". with the title font size beeing slightly smaller than your real name.
I'm pretty sure it won't be the last time that someone will come here and congratulate you as " juan jimenez " hehe

Can't wait to see it finished !
I think I'll start cuting into the helmet for the little plates etc.
Looking forward for the PBR work

Juan Gimenez is the artist that did the original art on 1st post!:)
It's the ''burlap'' from the pixologic gallery.
Are you going to add that liquid between the two panels of the visor?

jhoythottle Really appreciate , thanks

Oh and rules of cool too

Little update, next step sculpt on the respirator and pads :
Watch your pinching, though.
