FINALLY DONE!!!!:
ORIGINAL POST:
Hi, people!
I just started making a concept for a new skin for Twitch: The escaped lab experiment N17: "Rat Lab Twitch".
Here is my concept art, not done yet, as I'm still deciding colors, adding and removing details, and I still need to design its weapon!
Some notes!
And some of the reference I gathered to start working on it:
I'm still thinking on it... I mean, if it is really giving the feel of a rat that was heavily mistreated in a lab... so, any suggestions is greatly welcome!

Anyway, looks interesting so far.
And I also got rid of the robot arm, I think this looks more like someone was really trying to modify his limbs and interiors!
So, two tests, with and without white fur. And I still would love to come up with how to give a more vivid palette...
Damn, I can't wait to go into the 3d modelling!
Btw, the ear on the back suggestion doesn't sound that bad indeed!.
And due to the requests here is one with the ear in the back hehe. It looks fun.. but the back is such a big part to be seem in the game, that I prefer to give that space to something better...
Now to make the weapon and polypain this mean guy!
Ok, I think the model and color is done! I'll add some more details if in the final low poly I have space for them.
Man, I learned so much about Zbrush, Zremesher, Polypaint, Keyshot, lightning, render... uufff.... Even if I dont manage to finish, this project was soooo useful for me!
Now to finally work on the weapon!
Oh, gosh, now to make the low poly! Not my favorite part...
Anyhow, I sat here for a short time to start with the retopo!
Retopology is always time consuming, though is important to have a clean topology as a final result if you want to pose him. If you want to speed it up, maybe for certain meshes you can use the Zremesher, though probably will be more an aproximation rather than a final lowpoly.
Keep it up!
Anyhow here is the finished low poly! Now I need to unwrap the whole guy and start painting!
I found a really good artist that that uses low poly characters and paints then with such a nice detail. I find it really helpful for a LOL kind of style.

Yeah, this will definitely have some more retouching before it goes into my portfolio!
I'll post soon a re-paint on the body and better (faked) lighting. But as soon as I can make the time!

And a little animation... This is the unholster animation, and the idle loop.
I'll go on with adding some more animation states, and put all togetther in a little interactive animation in unity!

I had a lot of fun here in the forums, and some damn good feedback, so I went ahead polished the character, made some animations for it, and ended up making a little demo in Unity.
Here is a screen:
Ad if you wanna give it a shot, please go over to my site! (I don't think I can post a Unity Web player here right?):

Thanks for your feedback! And looking forward to your comments!
I have to say I really like coding as well, besides 3D
So I just built a good rig in 3Dsmax for the rat, made some animations, and brought them into Unity. Then some coding for the switching of guns and modes, the cheese pointer, and the enemies and there you go! A fun way for people to see my rat in action!
Thanks again! A lot of work was put into this!
