Finally got some time to get working on this, so here's the start of my WiP thread. Going to be doing my favorite skin on my favorite champion, Pentakill Sona.
Going to stick fairly close to the official art, but I'm planning on doing some small changes to her overall shape.
Gathering some reference real quick for the detail sculpting. Bird skull for the instrument, folds for the dress, and some possible corset details if I have time to get fancy. Not real sure how my workflow ended up going med-low-high, but whatever.
Reached the point of the night where I'm likely to fall asleep fairly soon, so I figured I'd post my progress for the few hours I've had to work on this today. Well, yesterday now. Gonna keep going for awhile if I can.
The end is in sight.
May have gone a bit crazy on tris (hello 5k extra for the chains). Her face is also probably too high poly for a League character, but that's what happens when you don't set hard polycount limits lol.
First time I've successfully hand painted textures. My previous attempt for a class a few years ago didn't go too well. I wish I had been able to polish the instrument a bit more, particularly the design on the front, but overall I'm quite happy with how this came out.
Bonus render! I was messing around with lights and thought this setup looked really cool. Couldn't use it in the actual entry since that had to be flat lighting only, so in the WiP thread it goes!

Let the retopology begin!
Topology was getting really messy from the dynamesh, so I'm gonna do some quick sculpting for the dress to get an AO pass.
Armband, spikes, and floaty chain link will be duplicated once I get textures in place.
Instrument geo done. The duplicated halfs are just there to make it look pretty.
AO looks odd when the thing causing it isnt there. Still not sure how to get photshop to play nice with several OBJs

Not sure where the texture bleeding around the shoulders is coming from. I don't get it anywhere else.
