Looking for references

I have been working in 3d for 6 years as a self taught 3d artist, however I've only worked solo on my personal projects. As a result I have no references to apply to jobs with. Unfortunately HR departments and temp agencies that look to hire artists are usually not artists themselves. They need to see a full resume including references before they even look at the portfolio.
I would like to find somebody to do a short project with and be willing to be used as a reference.
