Getting some mood boards down of the elements I want to include in my model.
I'm theming my Nautilus on Divers from the 1800s, with a few twists and a ton of artistic licence.
I'm taking influence from 1800s divers, intricate scroll engraving, spacemarine Bionics, The Lego Movies 'Metal Beard' Character, as well as the background lore of the character.
Diving Bell Copper/Brass Helmet
The Anchor will need to be as iconic and large as the current version,
I like the look of the scythes, mirrored a few of them would create nice silhouettes
For the upper Body the Diving helmet will lead as the inspiration, but there are full sealed suits called 'Newt Suits', used for deep submergence, I'll use for reference, as well as some low-fi robotics.
Like the Film Steamboy, I want a futuristic view of the time.
Ever since seeing The Lego Movie, I've loved Metal Beards Dual Cannons,
and as Nautilus has Riptide as a move, I'm going to make a dual arm mounted depth charge launcher for him. With a few spare Charges lumped onto his back for good measure.
Not just being a functional machine, I would love to incorporate some engraving into the body work of Nautilus, maybe depicting him being cast into the black gloo filled abyss. We'll see.
Definitely better than my ability to sketch things!
These are a few initial sketches, I wanna cram it full of details.
I'm going to whack a Octopus arm on him, thought it will look cool gripping the anchor, and I want two cannons on his arm, like the pirate from The Lego Movie.
I know Nautilus fires depth Charges that'll be how he'll do it.
