I like the idea but personally I'd focus more on using nicer textures, etc. than lots of particles if only to stay within similar performance constraints as LoL, not only for realistic budget reasons but also because their style is heavily influenced by their budget. As good as popcorn is at batching large numbers of particles, that isn't fundamental to the league style and so I think you'd have more success with fewer, larger particles and some strong texture work. It's a really cool idea though so I could see it transitioning into the more painterly style really well!

Here the first idea for VFX, a Hell door as an ulti, which grapel the character.

Here's the first try, i need to add a real background and to work on my timing.
All particles are render in PopcornFX editor.
Second FX will be an ice spell to contrast with fire.
Sorry for the laggy video, my computer was tired when i recorded it.
When your videos lagging it means there are faaar to many particles :P
Thx guys for your comments, i will retake this. In fact, i completly agree for the numbers of particles and the non realistic render.
