Hello!
I'll start with the turret for my environmental entry.
Although we are allowed to make a model based on the original assets I'd really like to introduce my own concept. I realize that it might not suit the summoners rift aesthetic much. I believe that Riots design team went through a lot of iterations and concepts for these pieces. But well, it's not much about the idea as it is about the texture and model itself and about making it fit into the environment... I'll probably end up borrowing some parts from the original assets but as I already mentioned, I don't want to make a copy.
So my idea for the turret is to make a stone dragon that is guarding the inhibitor. At first I wanted to make it a blue side turret referencing the drake on the blue side of the river. But then it would mean that the red side should have a Nashorish looking turret. I also realised that I like the curvy flow of the red structures for the dragon and it has already got a floating stone as a part of the turret, so that's just perfect. The dragon turret will be red and by red I mean purple.

I have been working on that turret today.
Made a low poly blockout which I will refine next.
Unfortunately I don't have much time to work on it so I'm skippind the detailed concepting phase.
So I'm thinking, that's enough geometry, it's around 1700 tris now.
As you can see, I've added a bit of detail here and there and I've also fixed the smoothing groups.
My next step is to turn it into high poly sculpt.
I wonder how it'll turn out.
This step will probably take me some time.

I think I need to chill today, was a long day at work today and I'm kinda sick of coming back home to sit in front of the screen even more...
I've pushed myself to at least start sculpting as planned.
Have started from the head and will work down from there.
It should give you a slight idea of where I'm going with that.

Hi everyone,
At Riot Games, we have a very strong feedback culture. We pivot and make adjustments when things can be done better or are not working. In the spirit of this culture and after internal conversations with feedback from the community, we have decided to make some tweaks to the environment section of the contest. You can now choose to create the turret or the inhibitor rather than being required to create both. We want to make sure we are giving everyone enough time to create assets that you are proud of and able to finish in time for the December 19th deadline.
We are also tweaking the animation com petition and not have animators pick an established character since animating a specific character without the exact model will be difficult. We want to see solid animations that are keeping the animation style of LoL in mind when creating these ability assets.
We thank you for your understanding and look forward to seeing what you all come up with.
