@Priareos: That is a great idea but unfortunately the way I built that particular fist would not allow me to that. If I could go back a couple of weeks I think I would have definitely done what you had suggested.
Another update just cleaning up some of the effects and fixing any visual bugs that I saw. Knowing myself, I'll probably do some more updates to it before I submit but hopefully this is a shippable version.
Awesome work Aryo!! good improvement on the palm strike the palm is a lot more readable. I can't decide which fx I like best they both are awesome! I definitely can see them being in the game. Great job!
I'm so glad that I was able to finish my first Art contest! It was a super fun experience and I think I am a little better VFX artist today then when I started. Congratulations to everyone who made it, you guys/gals have made some really great stuff.
I have been getting some messages regarding doing a breakdown / tutorials for this effect. I'll try and get something together and hopefully share something that can be helpful for others.

One thing i would polish, if it's easy for you to do:
Rotate the whole 'red' impact in the opposite direction of the blue one.
Then it has more left-right-punching feeling
The impacts feel reallly good!
