Hey everyone,

Going to be taking a crack at Sion. I don't know much about LoL, but thought this guy would be a fun character to develop.

I did a bit of reading up on his lore and he whole magically infused undead juggernaught thing is kind of interesting. I'll also be merging in some aspects of his redesign from concepts I found in the wiki.

Hope I finish it!

Good luck! They released him into the game recently and I've been having fun playing him a lot - he's one of the biggest characters physically for sure. Looking forwards to seeing what you can do with him.

Started today, just establishing the proportions and such. Started from a Zsphere rig.

This guys proportions seem pretty different concept to concept, so I'll have to find something that makes sense.

Looking at some of the reference images you gathered, I think a demonic version of Sion where he's armored in weird gooey organic-metal would look pretty sweet.

Yah, I agree, especially since in the lore, his armor is bolted onto his body, so maybe I can get some creepy organic metal plates which have been welded and bolted to his body, might look cool.

Hey CJE love your blocking and volumes I think the torso can be a bit wider and fatty.

Working on a bit of a different direction. Trying a more realistic route, as I'd like to do something different than the stylized versions that have been done.

Another update, playing with the idea of having his armor melded to his body, with some areas of skin growing over top. Still really rough though...

Lank greasy long hair could work with Sion - trying painting over your basic 3D figure, from different angles, 'til you find a look you like.

Now I'm debating going to back to more of the in-game proportions and style, oye my in-decisiveness will be the end of me, lol. Good thing we have until December to finish this.

Playing with some more ideas. Exploring maybe doing a sci-fi take on the character. I did a few rough sketches up just to get some ideas down. I'm partial to the exo-suit (b) but not sure.

Sci-Fi/Cyborg idea definitely has potential, I like A and B.

I really like A a lot - especially the crunky, clearly robotic prosthetics. Some people miss that Sion has a peg-leg:

Thanks guys. Yah I'm thinking of maybe melding some of the elements of A and B. I really like the clunky prostetics from A but I also like the elysium-style exo-suit thing with hydrolics in B. Maybe a combination of the two would work.

I want it to look like this guy has been brought back to life and cut up and put back together with spare parts and mechanical bits and such.

Ha, yes I was thinking of doing a Vader style chin-mask as well.

Here's the concept I'm working on. I'm still figuring out what to do with some of the details and I really have no idea for the mask at this point.

Hmm, that concept makes him look quite similar to Urgot IMO. Maybe if you have a good colour palette with his axe he will look more distinct. But then again, you could go for a Bioforge themed skin like the Darius one if you want to go for the Zaun-look.

Hmm I see what you mean about the similarities to Urgot, especially the mask. I wasn't familiar with that character.

Maybe when I add in the details to the armor it will make it more unique? Or maybe lose the mask as well...?

Thanks. I'm going to look into doing something closer to A then, everyone seems to like that one. The only thing I wasn't entirely fond of was the axe-hand, may have to redesign that a bit.
