I was able to sell some stuff i picked up from my early dota days and spent the cash on this software (since it was "steam credit" essentially). Its been years since i've done 3D art, but back in day I spent a lot of time using Lightwave 3D. MODO seems to be streamlined for use with Dota2, so it seemed like a decent idea to pick it up.
What are some limitations I can expect from this? if i was to create some dota2 items, where would I be forced to stop? Animation? particles?
I've only poked around in it for a few minutes. It looks pretty legit and had a stellar pricetag.

Honestly, it's pretty hobbled compared to the real thing, but you should be able to get some decent stuff done in it for Dota2.
Even if it were more expensive I'd be all over a modo edition with just model/uv (and maybe some sculpt stuff) with no script or export restrictions/limitations. Or maybe in the future programs could be made in a modular format where you pay for the features you want. And by that I mean an actual modular system, not something that just blocks a feature from working.
