Hey polycounters!

This is my first car. Looking for some critiques and any advices/tips on how to render it. I am planning to use Iray with max2014 for rendering. I am a bit clueless on how to setup the materials for it though...(polished wheels, car glowing paint , windows tinted , tires ) I would also like to make an emissive for the headlight or if you got any advice on how to render the lights pls do tell me.

First off, great job on modeling, BUT don't ever showcase anything with a black background. It doesn't complement your modeling by hiding certain forms of the model. Just keep going and someone will help you out with modeling further.

Thanks! but could you explain this to me? I am afraid I don't quite understand it.

I think he means that if you look at your car mesh (such as where the headlights would be) there's a black hole there where there's no polygons. Instead you might want to consider rendering on a similar-coloured background? :)

If you are talking about the taillights missing I thought it's not gonna be a problem as it was WIP.

Here is a latest progress. Installed Iray manager and materials. I am hoping to get some help on how to take it further.

Here I would like to add front lights, maybe xenon. Any tips on how to go about doing that?

No tips on the Xenon, but the model looks great. I really like all the little details right down to the little bolts on the rims and the exhaust. I am going to follow to see where you end up, because it looks great already, plus I am curious to see answers on the Xenon headlight question.

Glad you like it. Here is a new render, showing off my amazing photoshop skills ( probably 2nd time I tried to edit a pic)

Question is : Is this good enough for portfolio?
