Golden Yak: Ok, all that time it was in my face and I didn't see it I'm clearly over designing... all I had to do was to pop the plates like you said :P
Tits: Stephane and DVL might be joining as well if they aren't too old and rusty!
Very nice, having him transform as he gains power from Feast was a good move.
edit - The extra armor and spikes aren't bad either, they do give him a wider and bulkier appearance. It's pretty cool seeing his chitin plates unfold and split as his body grows beneath them though.
Thank you all for the feedback, I'm glad you like it. This week i'm going back to work so I wont update as frequently.
Ramrok: Thanks! So far it's 100% Zbrush and now I'm in the process of doing a retopo in 3ds max. I usually start from a sphere work with clay build up or trim dynamic and extract pieces as i go. I also used curve tubes to block out the main limbs and then split them with split masked. From there i refined the shapes with Hpolish and clay. That's pretty much it.
Great work! Cho is one of my favorite champions. I'm not sure if someone commented this before, but cho's spikes when auto attacking cover a larger area the bigger he is. Maybe add spikes as he gets bigger? Something likes Kha'zix's evolved spikes.
Hopes that helps.
Cheers!
Hey Guys,
Working on and off on the model has allowed me to step back a little and see some thing I didn't like very much about my original head so I made some tweaks in that area. My first head looked too human and demonish. I shifted the look of the head to be more alien and insectoid. The inner set of horns was too smal and pretty much invisible in the 3/4 view.
I am done with a first version of the low res mesh but I might optimize it a little more after I get a nice bake in and i'm able to see what I can cheat. I'll be working on the UVs and I feel it's going to be quite a challenge fitting a character like this on a single texture.
JoanSantus : Thanks! Good idea i'll see what I can do with this. I'll be carefull not to add too many spikes tho as I feel Cho is already a visually busy character.
tomwatson: Thanks! Yeah could be cool, maybe he could be like a tadpole end then develop from there into this guy.
I finilized the uvs and baked last night. i just got 3D Coat installed and with a 30 minutes tutorial i'm up and running. It's my 1st time in 3D Coat and so far i'm loving it. I made a base texture in photoshop and now i'm painting on top of it. Anyways here is my progress on the texture so far. OH and I almost forgot now Cho Gath with 200% more asymmetric teethes.
@ Khronos: it's around 15k tris which might be high. But if you take into account his size in relation to other characters and the amount of limbs he has, it's not that bad of a number.
Thanks Guys! I'm nearing completion on this one but I'd like to get your feedback before calling it done. I did a lot of work on the evolution side of my concept and created a baby ChoGath to intensify the change between each stages of his feast. I added a yellow glow between the plates to put emphasis on the gap between them. I also started to model the assets to recreate his ability for the final posing but I don't know yet if I'll be going through with this idea. Anyways here it is.
Nothing to say other than this is looking absolutely amazing. I'm loving the direction you took on the color work, the attention to details is fantastic and the character is coming to life very nicely! That baby Chogath is gonna make so hearts melt.
I'm really enjoying the progression on your work, great job so far keep up the good work!
Entering this contest was a great experience I learned a lot, pick up new tools, meat great people and artists. I also hope that in the process I managed to help some of you as much as y'all have helped me.

Love the color scheme you chose for him! Makes me want to cuddle him, is it weird? :-P
Congrats on finishing a strong entry there! It's crazy that you must be working on your second one at the moment. Respect man!
