Issues with assigning materials

I have been following this tutorial from the Quixel wiki on Workflow Primer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyJJAp17K-Y

And around 2 mins in I start having issues.
When creating smart materials, they do not adhere to the selection processes for masking. For example, when I first added the Dirt Teal Metal it added it with the mask from the Painted Metal Black (Blue) color so and when adding the following smart materials they all had clean white masks even when using C+Shift+Click to select the colors to assign it to in 3DO.
The way to fix each one i had to Right Click on each mask to manually reselect/deselect the colors for where I wanted the masks to apply and I hope this issue gets addressed to as it is a painful process especially when I had to spend hours figuring out how to manually adjust masks.

However now I am having another issue with materials: http://imgur.com/6Y2hEgi
In the image above, and in the youtube video around 4 mins in... I am getting the Plastic and Cotton materials to have metallic properties. You can see that they all are worn like metal, shine like metal and do not have a clean look unlike the video example shows. I have tried to follow the youtube example step by step (minus having to adjust the Mask's that the materials apply to) and restarted the project several times with the same issue. Please help figure out why the masks have to be manually adjusted and why the materials have metallic properties. Thank you.

PS: Would be great if Quixel Suite would be optimized for Adobe PS CS6
