Maya: Merge Vertex Tool Issue. Help

Hello,

I've been using Maya LT through Steam for about 4 months now, and all of the sudden my Merge Vertex Tool is causing me an issue.

When I try to merge one vertex to another it shoots off into infinite space instead of merging. I Reset to Default settings. I then found that the tool works fine if I am working in centimeters, but if I switch to feet (Which I've always worked in) the problem arises.

I've also tried deleting the user prefs file, but that did not work and I even uninstalled and re installed.

Any other ideas to fish this issue?

I've only recently started using feet for my units, but noticed that Maya gets really touchy about large object scale values, You may need to freeze transforms.

Since I'm kind of having the same problems, I can't keep it from defaulting back to creating primitives at 0.001 scale while working in feet.

don´t use the merge vertex tool is my idea.

put merge to center on a shortcut like shift+C.
snap the vertex u want to merge to the other with V and merge those fuckers.

done, never need to use the merge vertex tool again.

also i would recommend you work in centimeters.

Thanks guys, but I have been snapping the vertex to the one i want to merge it to and then merging the components, but it's an extra step. I've also never had any trouble with working in feet before. This problem has only just started and I've used Maya for 3 years now.

I don't really wan't to jump back and forth from centimeters to feet all the time, but it seems to be my best choice atm. However, since I know the tool is broken I just want to fix it rather than do a work around. :(

Anyhoo... Thanks for the replies. I appreciate it.
