3D Enviroment Artist wanted

Omniconnection LLC is a independent game development studio primarily focused on the multiplayer shooter genre and currently working with the Unreal Development Kit. Actively developing its first game, Grimoire: Manastorm, for the PC.

Grimoire: Manastorm is a multiplayer mage FPS with MOBA-style abilities that puts the player in control of devastating magic. Deep spell mechanics enhance classic FPS gameplay with the tactics and trickery unique to magical battles. Explore a dark medieval world through three exciting game modes that put a new twist on old favorites.

Up until just recently Grimoire has been developed using placeholder assets with a focus on gameplay and features over finalized art. With the addition of a 3D artist we are ready to bring our wonderful 2D concepts to life. Grimoire is currently in the top 50 games on Steam Greenlight and is scheduled for a Q1 2015 Early Release.

So, what will be your responsibilities in this role?
  • Use concept art as inspiration to create game environments assets.
  • Import models and related assets into UDK.
  • Iterate on game assets via prototyping and group feedback.

As a consummate artistic badass you need:
  • A minimum of 1 years’ experience in game development as an artist specializing in hard surface, props, or organic modeling using Maya, Photoshop, or 3DS Max
  • Understanding (or willingness to learn) UDK asset creation pipelines and tools
  • An exceptional understanding of form, shape, structure, and silhouette in regard to modeling
  • An eye for light, shade, color, and detail in creating texture maps
  • Self-motivation, good communication skills, and a willingness to wear many hats as a scrappy Indie dev.
  • Proven problem-solving / prototyping ability
  • Ability to adjust art to meet gameplay needs.

What previous experience would make you semi-phenomenal nearly cosmic levels of awesome?
  • Experience in creating visual designs that support gameplay oriented goals
  • Skill in one or more related disciplines – illustration, animation, visual effects, or technical art
  • Experience in working with assets purchased from online stores
  • Passion for stylized, handcrafted art style
  • Generalist environment art abilities – Eg: experience with lighting, organics, architecture, animation
