Hey everyone, long time no post! Here's a few 3D models that I did over the Summer to keep myself in practice. Each of them took a couple of weeks of "off-and-on" work. I used Maya to model them and also to generate the normal map. Then I used Photoshop to fix up the normal map and create the diffuse and spec.
I really don't understand where you're using all those polygons on the knife - 2.4k is very high for what you have.
The top of the grip should be smoother, and the blade should have two distinct edges.
Note the distinct darkening around the finger holes, and the patina on the blade. Also, there's a great deal of pitting throughout the metal; these were rather cheap, mass-produced items.
