Hey again, adding the question back for anyone who might be searching for something similar.

This is the tutorial I was using but I couldn't figure out how to achieve the same effect as him, the main issue was my mallet fast brush not seeming to work in the same way but it was probably just a setting in the brush that the tutorial didn't cover and I had wrong, however I found through another tutorial that the trim dynamic can achieve the same effect for the edge wear and as such I just used that instead.
And this was the tutorial that I followed for Projeciton Master basics:

My mistake was looking for wood specific projection master tutorials instead of just general.

Also I tried drawing slow and fast but I really couldn't achieve the same look, i'm using a Wacom Bamboo and if I drew fast it looked like when you put brush spacing high in photoshop, and when I drew slow it had very hard edges.
EDIT: Also to reply to you neox roll is turned off.
EDIT2: I turned roll on but still can't access the other modifiers
IIRC these options are for 2.5D brushes
wow dude yeah really why did you remove your question?
Sorry if that came across as selfish, it was actually quite the opposite, I edited it out because I found the solution and didn't want to waste your time.
It completely skipped my mind that some people might have the same question.
