Hi all,

After trying to find what I was looking for in the stickies, I decided to post my question here. A tip was given to me that I should focus more on Zbrush than Max, even though I want to create architecture and hard surfaces for sci-fi designs, not organic creatures or characters. Can Zbrush supplement Max and vice versa? Again, I'm a major newbie to this and just started Lynda tutorials today.

Focus on learning 3ds Max if you want to know hard surface modeling

Definitely start with 3DS Max, because it is important to learn how to create models with clean topology before you jump into using tools or plugins that speed up or automate the process. That being said Zbrush can certainly be used to work on hard surface models.

If you are looking for tutorials check this out

It has a so much information your brain will catch on fire, this includes an entire section dedicated to subdivision surface modeling(pst, hard surface modeling).
