Recently, I started learning Maya because why not and because its industry standard now. Its nice overall but there are a few features that i use during my workflow in 3D Max which i haven't been able to locate within Maya like for example, Position Transform as in the that little popup box that allows you to set the exact position of a vertex within max.

What I've research online has a lot of people trying to find the same function but with no luck and even one group went to the extreme of writing a script to create the same function.

check out the component editor (window>general editors). Pretty sure this is what you are after

If you want a quick transformation of a component, you can go up to the top of the Maya window just underneath the Help menu to the three X Y Z boxes. The icon adjacent to it lets you pick between absolute/relative, renaming and selecting scene objects.

Thanks for your feedback but this is what I've come across.

First Reply, The "component editor" was mention but it seems that all the values are static and don't update when your moving selected vertex with move tool, neither does it work on lines.

Second Reply, Quick Transform. I'm assuming that there is a way to get values to show up within the text boxes X, Y, Z because i played around with all the settings in an attempt to get any information to show up in the boxes but nothing did.

Ah, I see now. This is a bit obscure. With your components selected and with one of your translation tools active, clicking on one of the axis handles will display the XYZ values of your selection at the bottom left corner of the window. This displays the current location of the gizmo and will update in real time as you move/scale/rotate.

I feel there may be a little miscommunication. So, I took the liberty of putting together the function I'm trying to find in Maya.

Try Edit Mesh > Transform Component? No fancy pop-up window, but you can still use the interactive slider to adjust values in realtime (select the name column in the .Channel Box, and MMB + drag in the viewport).

It seems in my haste when playing around with the Component Editor, I may of not relies it doesn't work like you'd expect and has to be tab to work.

    Thanks for your help!
