strange viewport orientation

when i press "B" for a bottom view it shows the bottom in an isometric view? image attached. how do i fix this? it also happens with "L" for left view.

have you tried clicking on the bottom of the cube? It seems to be stuck on the corner of the viewcube...

that definitely works, but im talking about the fact that the isometric (ish)/bottom view shouldn't happen when i press "B" or "L" for left.
