It might work better with 6 legs instead of 4. Insect movement is much easier for robots than quadruped - there is always a set of 3 legs on the ground, so the body is always stable.
I'd expect some sort of arms, unless the legs do double duty. (Another reason for 6 legs.)
The body seems rather tall & thin.
A head on a turret would let the robot move off in any direction without rotating the body. This, of course, remains a standard idea of a support/probe robot:
