Need help with baking & Maps

Hello! If someone can answer some questions and give some insight to a few problem that would be great

First off when i bake my AO map it comes out with these black areas





Also what are convexity maps?

Looks like your cage doesn't expand to cover the high poly. What are you using to bake?

Looks like a cage failure to me. If you use 3ds Max you can easily do a few quick test bakes to see if there's any red color spots that show issues in your projection.
