Need some help here

I absolutely do not like to double post. However, I'm am experiencing an issue in 3DS Max 7 and have posted it in a different forum here at polycount. Unfortunately, nobody has responded to it and I'm posting the issue here now so that hopefully somdbody can help me. The problem I am having is with the viewport in 3DS Max 7. It is such an issue that I can no longer find any enthusiasm in working with the program. I've done a search for this problem and found it mentioned on this thread (http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=116625). However, it does not seem that a viable solution was discovered. This problem is what has compelled me to come to this forum and hopefully find a solution resolving it. As mentioned in the topic that I had linked, the problem is when I use the quad menu and select something from it, and the menu will freeze whatever was on the viewport underneath it. Now, I have found a quick solution to it, and that's going to the desktop, right clicking in the desktop, and selecting display options. For some reason that seems to unfreeze the image from the screen. I have this problem on both my computer and my laptop, both are Asus and using Windows 8. I'll have to check later on for the additional specs, but both systems are up to current industry standards. My goal is to find a solution that prevents this issue from occurring. Thank you all for any feedback that you could provide.
