Hey, just saw this. Looks like Epic is offering it completely free to students and educators. If you haven't already picked it up, this might be a good opportunity to:
One of my favorite parts of UDK was that when I was studying Game Art in school it was readily available for free. It's really nice to see that future students will have that advantage as well. Excited to see all the great art that comes from the expanded accessibility =]
You can cancel your subscription at any point and essentially pay 20 dollars for an incredible piece of software, it doesn't really get much better than that.
are you being serious? they give educational licenses?
An "educator" has to sign up in order to obtain licenses for their school which I believe can be handed out to anybody at the school.
I was hoping for individuals to be able to get a license since I like to avoid human contact whenever possible, but I'm just going to have to go talk to the guy coordinating the makerspace at my school to get some licenses. I did just try to sign up as a Polycounter though, hopefully whoever sees Request #7769 is a fan of tiny kittens, also if they are a Polycounter that doesn't hate me, that'd be great too.

Hey NegevPro, I had asked about this on Friday, as I've had some other students inquiring about the same thing (signing up w/o professor). This is our initial implementation of an educational license, and will be working toward a better solution in the future. We wanted to make it free for education first, which this was the best way to start quickly, then evolve and grow it. For now, the best option will be to talk to your professors and have them set it up.
I find it really sad that Unity have not done this and did not do this a long long time ago, thousands of students will now be trained in using UE4. I really love Unity and have used in the past, lets hope Unity 5 comes up with the goods.
It appears the bundle of kittens I sent was not enough to convince Tiffany to give me an edu license lol. For now I'll just talk to my current CS professor as I'm sure he'd be willing to sign up to help me out. It's good to see that Epic plans to evolve this program though, they really are a model company considering how far they go to help others out!
