Hey guys.

So I'm modeling a building in a street scene that I'm creating.

Attached is my guideline image, and what I have sofar.

I feel like everything was going well until I added the "store" part in the lower left. It looks good except it seems too... short. It feels like you can't see under the overhang. My gut instinct is to raise the entire bottom up a bit (raise the top of the door, top of the store and so forth to make it look right).

Does anyone have any expert advice as to why the bottom section looks like it's been squashed?

Between your scene and the reference, the awning is much lower in yours. Use that line of light stone as a guide to the top of the awning's base. For a secondary eyeballing, check the fire hydrant to the bottom of the awning. The figure in white seems to be a foot and a half too short of brushing his head.

Thanks a ton. I matched up the awning with the top of the door. Because they are matched up in the picture. That leads me to believe that my doorway is also way too short. I'll probably need to raise both. Thanks for the advice.

1st rule: place a model of the human in your scene: it will help you to catch the proportions.
