My question: Is this a legitimate, educational license for Autodesk Entertainment Suite 2014? Aka, is this literally a single computer, full-on software, and NOT a license to just add an additional seat or something else entirely?
Is it missing anything like a provided license key or something? Because its all being delivered on a USC apparently.
I called TigerDirect customer support and they said it was a full on license for the software. I'm still scratching my head about the price.
I did, that was back in 2010/2011. I've only got 2 or 1 year left lol.
My intention is that this'll tide me over as my personal Maya license (minus any months I have freelance work that requires a commercial subscription).
There are loop holes... but, what you probably should do, ideally, is change software packages for personal use and let the studio pay for whatever version you need at work.
Its not like the skills you learn in one software go away when you dont have the license to use it anymore.
Also it appears based off some talk at cgsociety (and elsewhere) and some stuff said by the Autodesk CEO, that the perpetual license might not be an option going forward and a subscription model will be pushed entirely in its place. Depending on your outlook, it might not be wise to jump on board with their edu or even perpetual licenses anymore at least until further notice.
Whoaaaa, wait, what ?
You guys are saying that I can get this for free with any email address I want by going directly to Audodesk and list lynda.com and myself as Mentor ??

LOL. Don't be late to the party.
You can put in polycount.com if you want
Just beware AD can do random audit of your system if you agree to their TOS.
I suppose there's nothing wrong with wanting to purchase this, but the question goes to "Why?" If it's just an edu license, you could get an infinite supply of those straight from Autodesk for free. I guess if you wanted to be honorable to them, despite the fact that they run a software monopoly and try to fuck people out of money at every possible opportunity, then you could probably purchase this and get an infinite edu license, but you could just save $90 by signing up on their website with a new account also.
At the end of the day, it's your money and you aren't going to be considered dumb for buying something you worked for, but it just seems like you could save some money. On a related note, the distribution method is listed as a flash drive, seems like they're just going to mail you an installer and provide you with a key.

If you're looking to freelance or something, your best bet might be to look into the subscription options.
Actually, you can specify "mentor" out of the 3 options (student, faculty, mentor).

Word.
What happens for example IF you're client wants you to send the .max file and they use and have a commercial license?
Factor in your rental cost when quoting and if you have to use an AD product.
That'd be the plan, assuming I have the week or so to rev up subsciption services. From what I hear at this time, the system is a bit antsy.
But anyways, does this look like a legit, permanent, education license for Autodesk Entertainment Suite 2014?
I feel like I'm missing some sort of loophole I need to take advantage of right now.

I'd recommend checking out Modo btw.
You don't need an edu email address to signup anymore.
