I just picked up a regular 3DS like a month ago and it's been amazing. I can't help but feel that this could be a bad move though, exclusive games could potentially mean bad sale figures for the developers because not every 3DS owner is going to upgrade. I would hope that exclusivity wouldn't go past some additional features added for people with the newer console, but I guess we'll find out soon enough. I probably won't upgrade any time soon, I've got enough JRPGs to last a lifetime and Persona Q isn't even out yet!
On a side note, I can't stand using the 3D feature on my 3DS. My eyes start burning almost instantly on any game even if I set the slider to a very low amount, I'd consider upgrading if the new console could alleviate that problem.
Interesting. The idea of a right thumbstick is a big selling point. I actually have no issues with my current 3DS other than the lack of thumbstick, if I can afford it I might actually look into this.
Like Wii U is a new console and not a new Wii model.
Sounds good, I hope that's what it is. But seriously who is naming these things, if it really is a 3ds 2 don't tell me they're calling it 'the new 3ds LL'.
I don't know, they've said double the ram, processing power, and almost double vram. doesn't sound like 'slightly' but I guess that depends what your expectations really are.
they also added new shoulder buttons and a right analogue stick for camera controls (finally), longer battery, etc.
and I'm not sure I get the complaints about new versions. this seems to be a legitamate upgrade to a 5 year old handheld. It's not like that's "too soon" as far as console release timelines are concerned.
remains to be seen how much more powerful it actually is, but shit, they are porting xenoblade to it and that's awesome.
I agree it's a shame the screen is not higher resolution but at the same time then we probably wouldn't be getting a graphics upgrade
Because it uses micro SD, it should be easier to format SD cards to be larger formats that the system technically does not support. My 32 GB card is almost full so I would love to see if I can get a 64 or 128 GB card in one. Luckily, my smart phone is capable of formatting the SD cards to the proper format.

For our indie game we wanted to develop for 3DS, but lacking the extra L & R was a huge issue for our control scheme.
