Hello fellow Polycounters!
Some of you may have already visited the Hattery (kind of a stealth beta launch about a month ago), but I want to formally introduce it here and hopefully elicit constructive feedback as it grows.
DotaHattery (
http://www.dotahattery.com) is a WebGL-based website/webapp that provides real-time 3D previews of all Dota 2 heroes, couriers, wards, and their cosmetic items in any web browser that supports WebGL. It's a site dedicated to helping people discover and share items while showing off what you all created!
Currently it has all in-game items (minus a few specific outliers - Undying Totem, Enigma Eyedolons, etc), but there's still a LOT more work to do! I just started poking at the lighting and Dota 2 shaders
I hope this website proves to be a useful tool in whatever way it can assist you all from studying what's already been accepted by Valve into the game to latest trends, etc.
I thought it was really cool that someone from Vietnam has been using the site as reference material for her/his business that sells custom handmade Dota 2 clay models
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Item-DotA2-Handmade/598633226923539 (at least that's what I gathered from Google translate!).
There are a lot of bugs and missing features still as outlined in the FAQ page -
http://www.dotahattery.com/faq.html. If you find any other bugs or would like to request a feature, please do so in this thread, PM me, or tweet it to
@dotahattery. Updates to the site are posted on the Twitter account
https://twitter.com/dotahattery (follow for updates!).
I'm looking forward to hearing your feedback, thanks!!

I always look at the existing sets/items when I'm making one myself.
Now this will make my life waaaay easier and better.
Thanks a lot
Thanks for the great website and keep up the awesome work!
It would be cool if you can see the Arcana for the characters like Legion Commander Lina and Terror blade.
It get fixed if you equip a morphling set
For the critical feedback:
Which heroes are you referring to? The only one that seems odd to me is Nature's Prophet with his janky right arm, but if you imagine sunglasses on him, it makes sense. Kappa.
Originally I used the idle animations for all heroes, but it didn't look right on some. For example, DK had his shield up blocking his face and helmet. That just wasn't appropriate. I currently use the loadout animations if they exist and then fall back on capture/portrait and finally idle if those don't exist. Valve has been adding new loadout animations recently and its possible that whichever heroes you are referring to didn't have proper loadout animations at the time when I exported them. Also, some loadout-specific animations like Axe's and QoP's are just too good not to use.
Sounds like a great suggestion to add to my future plan of implementing a sort of "advanced tools palette". Thanks!
Thanks for the feedback! I'll definitely consider it, although I'm making a conscious decision to limit the amount of text when possible. But if this is something that a lot of people seem mention, then I'll definitely change it to make it easier for new users! Thanks!
The comment about that bug on Reddit was the best - http://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/2c0fj0/would_anyone_be_interested_in_a_website_that_let/cjb3fy0. It's almost too funny that I don't want to fix it. It happens when you switch heroes before the current one finishes loading.
By Arcana, I assume you mean the particles. I definitely want to add in particles in the future!
My current subject-to-change priority list:
Looking at particles would be sometime after that, stay tuned!
Is this an inside joke that I'm not privy to? I agree that he needs a model update, but "we" voted for Void. (derp)
