Hey Guys!
I was browsing trough my old files a couple of days ago, and I happen to stumble over some old work. It was my idea of an Ion-Canon (Star Wars); if it was made in modern time... I have been looking for a "firsttime" project for the new Pbr method, so I have remade the textures for this one.
Nothing fancy about model, but I still learned in a easy way how the new texturing method is all about
This was the old file I found. Maybe not a masterpiece, but I remember I thought the idea was funny! ;D
Aaaand the PBR verson
(Ofc with some boosted Textures)
The model is still very simple, but it still shows how awesome Pbr does things ;O
Thanks

If I may ask a question, as a designer/artist, how do you design something from scratch that would only be possible in a fantasy world. Many people say that a convincing model is that which has a realistic function, so it could be built in the real world (although it's not, right now anyway), so how does someone (such as yourself) come up with the designs for something which looks like it would work in the real world using the parts shown. I hope I'm making sense, I'm just trying to understand fantasy design a little more.
Don't know if I'm the best person to ask that.
But what I usually do is take as many "cool" parts as possible. and merge them together... gather some references and make a very simple concept art piece. Like this one, I just used some pictures like; http://www.hooverae.com/upload/files/201112/9373908.jpeg
Then I took away what I didn't like. and started too find some materials that would fit the "Time" to that object .
I know It's not so much help, but it's a difficult question! ;O
Keep up the great work
